AMBER ALE
Amber is a petrified resin often containing mosquitos. Ours is a quaffable session ale. Good with breakfast, suitable with lunch and 100% improves sunsets and can be drunk in the dark. Using a classic hopbination of Summit and Cascade, our Amber ale offers a solid malt backbone, shades of grapefruit and a refreshing bitterness
GAIKAS GOLD
All that glitters is not gold, but beer, Gaika was a legendary Xhosa king and his name marks the highest peak in Hogsback. Using a wild combination of Colombus, Mosaic and Motueka hops, first comes a crisp bitterness, a smidgen of malt flavour, followed by a soft citrus orange finish.
Goes well with life and everything it throws at you.
SMASHED PARROT IPA
IPA, India – a country, Pale – not Barry White, Ale – a water substitute that keeps you safe. Ours is a hoppy, not stupidly bitter, refreshing citrus bomb that goes well with friends and hot summer days. Using Alchemy, Mosaic and Columbus hops, HBC’s IPA offers a super quaffable ale with hints of malt, bursts of bitterness and refreshing citrus flavours.
THE SIGNWRITERS ALE
Named after a legendary Signwriter, the Signwriters Ale was a 30 Litre Christmas Gift, dispatched in 5 days. Before Christmas arrived. So enjoyable, we made it available to the world at large. The Signwriters is our homage to English Ales, made with noble hops, offering a rich malty, slightly spicy, always earthy ale to while away afternoons.
THE NIGHTOWL
A stout, possibly a porter, using roasted malts, some hops for a dash of bitterness and local roasted coffee beans perpetually soaked in Bourbon. Seldom available mainly due to self consumption of my three favourite things, Beer, Coffee and Whiskey in a single bottle. Try it while you can!
SUMMER ALE
The Summer Ale is a malty honey nut pale ale with flavours of local raspberries, who we kidding? It’s just a Raspberry smack in the cakehole. Available on tap and in bottles. Surprisingly it’s only available in Summer, ask for it when the suns shining, or in Hogsback’s case when it’s raining.
